The Sun Stood Still: Joshua's Bold and Unusual request

From the beginning, we are made in the image of God. We are made to take dominion over all things on earth. We are made as the sons and daughters of God. We are meant to be the head and not the tail. We are meant to rule and reign with Christ. God wants us to live a life of faith and He loves it when we have the boldness to ask of Him. Our God is a good God who will do anything, especially great and mighty things for us. He is a speciality in miraculous ways of deliverance and victory. God commanded Joshua again and again, to be strong and of good courage. And indeed we see Joshua being courageous in many ways. The most significant being Joshua boldly asking the Lord to make the sun stand still so that they can triumph over their enemies (Jos 10:12-14) And God heeded his voice and granted his bold, unusual request, that even defied the law of nature that God Himself has put in place. Our God is not limited by anything. And likewise, our faith in Him need not be limited...

How do we receive the promotion that comes from God?

I n life, we have many obligations and commitments. Each of us play multiple roles. One needs to be a parent, a son, an employee and the roles increase as you are actively involved in more things. Often Christians have no qualms to take on these roles and more activities. Yet, sometimes we may struggle to commit more to God and to His kingdom. For it is easier to commit to things which we can see and things which will directly benefit us. But we are called to a life of eternity. We are not meant to build just treasures on this earth, but to build our treasures in heaven and for the eternity life that God has prepared us for. (Matt 6:19-21) The bible reminds us in Col 3:2 to set our minds on things above and not on things on the earth. It is not wrong to be busy with work and family and things are on earth. But let it not be the only things that you go after. While we think that promotion will come from our hard work and personal achievements, do not forget that the sovereignt...

Was it God's punishment or mercy for Jonah to be in the fish's belly?

The story of Jonah is among one of the well-known stories and you will remember seeing illustrations of Jonah in the fish belly in children's Bible. This story is often told as a "warning" not to disobey God and not to run away from God's calling in our life. It is often told to remind us not to disobey God's call over our life.  In our mind, we will picture that as an image of God's punishment to Jonah for his obedience. "Better obey, or a big fish may swallow you up!" But the book of Jonah is much more than that. It is really about the love, grace and mercies of God throughout the four chapters. The story began with God giving Jonah an assignment to go to Nineveh with a message to cry out against them, that their city will be destroyed due to their wickedness. (Jon 1:1-2) For some reason it was not told to us in the opening chapter, why Jonah's first response was to choose not to take up God's assignment for him and inste...

Monday Inspiration

for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Romans 14:17 NKJV The Bible says that the kingdom of God is ① Righteousness ② Peace ③ Joy For He made Him who knew no sin to  be sin for us, that we might became the righteousness of God in Him. II Corinthians 5:21 NKJV Jesus died on the cross for our sins and we become the righteousness of God in Him. So that's one-third of the kingdom of God in us. Today, if you just either focus on the peace of God or the joy in the Holy Spirit, you will have two-thirds of the kingdom of God in your hands. That's a battle won on a Monday ! Here are two verses to help you today and this week, so that you might have victory over very situation in your life. ✞ And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. Romans 16:20 NKJV ✞ You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is...

Paul's handkerchiefs : Tapping into God's presence and power within us

The fact that we live is the evident that the life of God is within us. In Gen 2:7 when God made the first man Adam, he breathed into his nostril the breath of life, and man became a living being. The word of God in Acts 17:25 mentioned again that God gives to all life, breath. The breath of God is in us. We carry the life of God within us. It is well described in Acts 17:28 that in Him we live and move and have our being, for apart from Him we are nothing and we will not even have existed. Therefore God is not as far away as we have often imagined it to be and that we have to try very hard to find Him and reach Him. He is so near and so within our reach. For He is living in each and every one of us. The fact that we carry the breath of God, the life of God is flowing through us. Our very breath is the breath of God. 1 Cor 6:19 is a powerful verse to confirm this, that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. God's life is in us and God lives in us. When we can gra...
